Congressman McHenry visits LeeBoy

Congressman Patrick McHenry (R-NC) paid a visit to LeeBoy in Lincolnton, North Carolina on May 4th to learn about an iconic company and an industry that supports 1.3 million jobs across the country. LeeBoy, which was founded in Charlotte in 1964, designs and manufacturers construction equipment for the infrastructure and road construction and maintenance industry.

The Congressman, who serves as the Chief Deputy Whip, toured the facility, visited with the more than 300 men and women who work at LeeBoy and conducted a Q&A session on the shop floor (from the hopper of a LeeBoy paver!).

“Manufacturing plays a significant role in the western North Carolina economy, and LeeBoy is a big part of that,” said Congressman McHenry. “I enjoyed the opportunity to tour their facility, meet with staff, and learn how the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act has helped them advance their goal of producing high-quality commercial asphalt paving equipment right here in Lincoln County.”

Employees asked the Congressman for updates on a comprehensive infrastructure bill, the Trump administration’s trade policies, federal workforce development initiatives and the impact of last year’s tax reform on the economy. LeeBoy CEO Chris Barnard emphasized the importance of the equipment manufacturing industry to the U.S. economy and thanked the Congressman for taking time to visit with the men and women who help make America.

“We greatly appreciated having Congressman McHenry visit with the LeeBoy employees and hear first-hand about the issues that impact the equipment manufacturing industry. Now more than ever, it is important that our elected officials continue to promote pro-manufacturing policies such as infrastructure investment, free trade, and workforce development. The enthusiasm of our employees coupled with the energy of Congressman McHenry and the AEM staff was unparalleled. We are very excited to partner with AEM in making the ‘I Make America’ campaign a huge success.”
