AEM launched a major new advertising blitz as part of its I Make America campaign to raise the equipment manufacturing industry’s profile in the nation’s capital.

The “Behind Every Product” campaign kicked off on Monday, and will run in Washington, D.C. in the weeks to come. The ads are intended to promote the results of AEM’s economic impact study from earlier this year among the Trump Administration, members of Congress and other industry stakeholders.

The campaign is running across digital platforms, including video and display advertising, and with additional spots in select print publications in D.C.

“Equipment manufacturers want to be sure that President Trump, members of Congress and other leaders in Washington understand the size and scope of our industry,” said AEM President Dennis Slater. “We want everyone to understand that behind every piece of farm or construction machinery a story of a hardworking American who is able to support a family because of our industry.”

A report produced earlier this year by the independent research firm IHS-Markit found that the equipment manufacturing industry supports 1.3 million jobs across the United States, and contributed $159 billion to the GDP of the United States. The report also found the industry generated almost $87 billion in labor income in 2016, and that about 30 percent of equipment produced in the United States is eventually intended for export.

AEM will continue to build out the campaign in the weeks to come with additional spots to highlight other findings of the report, and to push Congress and the White House to advance pro-manufacturing policies including tax reform and infrastructure investment legislation.
