The equipment manufacturing industry supports 2.8 million good-paying jobs in the United States and generates $288 billion each year to the economy.
Equipment manufacturers of all sizes and sectors need to trade with the world to find new customers, grow jobs domestically and improve our country’s competitiveness in an increasingly interconnected economy. Our industry needs policies and trade agreements that help us reach these consumers and compete successfully in an increasingly tough global economy.
However, a 2019 analysis showed the U.S. economy will lose $290 billion over ten years due to protectionist tariffs now in effect and over that same time period the U.S. will see 260,000 fewer jobs.
That’s why the I Make America campaign works to promote free trade agreements to help spur job creation in America while helping to reach consumers worldwide and compete successfully in an increasingly tough global economy. It’s through the power of our 2.8 million men and women’s voices that we can educate elected leaders about the benefits of international trade in order to help expand the industry’s growth in key markets around the world.
